Welcome to Teapot Tuesday where we are
making, cooking and doing!
School starts this week for both my kids. Hayden goes 5 days a week for full time Pre-Primary and Mikala starts at Kindy, 2 days this semester, 3 days second semester. I am so excited for them both as I know how wonderful school is going to be for them, and for me. This is the year when I might get away staying home a little and just enjoying some time to myself. Next year I think we will be looking at me returning to some kind of more regular work. So I have been making a list. THE List!
THE List will include all the things I want to achieve this year, while I have some ‘time’. I actually don’t have hours of time as I commit to playing tennis and golf on some of these days. It is a work in progress and at the end of each month I might share it again and tick off what I have achieved. It is going to make me accountable.
- Clean out Linen Cupboard
- Do something with the board games that are everywhere!
- Clean out the hall cupboard
- Which also includes doing something with the teaching resources I no longer want or need – or a relevant.
- Finish setting up my craft room. Move the sewing machines in.
- Make a doily bunting. (I have the doilies thank you eBay! I couldn’t cut up the ones my Nanna made)
- Tupperware cupboard AGAIN!
- Move the blog to WordPress self hosted (I think)
- Clean Top of fridge and make it so it doesn’t get dumped on
- Breakfast routine
- Create another garden bed out the front to join with what we have. This is going to require some rock picking. For those of you that know about rock picking – its exciting isn’t it!
- Move two fences and playground so we can put a pool in.
- Organise my photos and decide how I am going to present them – I have project life, but now think digital might be better for me. But I do have to do something.
- Paint wardrobes in my bedroom.
- Paint bedside tables
- Change photos in frames that are 3 years old.
- Lose 10kgs (wouldn’t that be a nice bonus!)
This is what I am starting with. Not many things, but some I cant do without help. Some will take time and others I might just be able to do in an afternoon. Some of the points require some of the other things to be completed first.
Do you have anything on your list that you would love to get out of the way this year? Something you may have been putting off. I’m happy for you to share here and then check back when I do and see if you have finished.
Now to have a cup of tea, enjoy the quiet and read the posts at Essentially Jess where I have linked up for #IBoT.

That really is a good idea, because when I look around at all I have to do I want to collapse in a heap and cry. My pantry, linen cupboard, my son’s wardrobe/storage area, above my walk-in robe – the list is HUGE. Maybe if I write it down it won’t seem so insurmountable? And yes would the 10kg be a nice cherry! Em x
I think writing it down and then making a plan on how to tackle it all is important. Today I have written the list and I’ve already started working out the best way to start…now just to start!
You are going to be busy! I have lots of lists, and it’s so nice to cross things off. Board games are so hard to store. I’ve always coveted the ‘game closet’ that was in The Royal Tanenbaums. Maybe an idea for your hall cupboard?
xx
Mrs BC you are on to me already. Yes I think the hall closet would be perfect. Just need to get rid of some stuff first!
It’s my wedding anniversary in two weeks and I still haven’t done our digital wedding album – I started putting together a photo book the year we got married, it’s been 7 years on the 18th so I totally relate to having to organise photos. I need a list, I have one in my head but the problem is I don’t want to do anything on my list and I think that if I write it down it will be far too much like committing to the chore – easier to mention it to hubby and forget for another three months.
I have an album my my photographer did for us thank god otherwise mine wouldn’t have been done either. But really need to do something else with the piles and piles of photos I have since then.
Ah Annelais, my list looks so similar to yours!! I think you need to add in there
- make a cup of tea and read a book for an hour
- tame yourself out for a pedicure
- have an afternoon nap
(if only hey!) but we could but try!. Lots of luck with your list! xx
Mrs D – Very important things to add to the list. An afternoon nap is such a luxury! I’ll be trying for that one for sure.
I JUST wrote my own list today! Not because mine are in school, just because I;m trying to get my house (and life) in order! Good luck with yours xxx
Effectively I’m doing the same – just this gives me a timeline! Goodluck with you list!
Sounds like a plan, but alone time is good too. My two are just back now, my catch-up list is ridiculously long but somehow I can’t jump to it. I’m giving myself this week to “ease in”. Six straight weeks is a long time to live in noisy chaos without school! #teamIBOT
6 weeks is an age. I do like the idea of easing into it too!
Good luck with your list!!
Thanks Ann
I’m a big fan of lists so I have no idea why I haven’t done something like this! I think high on my list is to sort out my pantry. It’s in shambles at the moment and always is. I need to organise it better so that it’s easier to keep organised. I look forward to seeing your updated list!
I find my pantry hard. Before a big shop its great but we do a huge shop and then everything gets stacked in there! It is one of our problem areas also.
I think I need you round my house! Catching up with talk to us thursday!
lol Emma I’m struggling to get on top of my own house, thats why I need a plan.
This is such a good idea! I have 5 different to do list: one for the blog, one for the house… I need to put them all together.
Just letting you know that I answered your question here.

Thanks Rita – I’m heading over for a look!
