Welcome to Tractor Thursday where we were talking about learning, playing and exploring.

If you want to have happy successful kids at home and school you need to find ways to encourage your child without just saying ‘well done’ or ‘you’re so clever’. So here are some opportunities to show them you love them, your appreciate their efforts and you think they are terrific. Make sure that you tell them exactly what you are loving about what they are thinking, saying or doing.

The following is a free printable that you can use to put on the fridge and remind yourself to tell them they are terrific everyday.

To download please click here.

Please note:It is 4×6 size so that you can print it out on photo paper or put it into a frame. I’ve printed mine on photo paper and then I laminated it and stuck on the fridge.

This printable is free for classroom and personal use. Please contact me if you wish to use it for any other purpose. I am happy for you to pin and share as long as you are linking to this post and not the download file. Copyright Annaleis Topham – Teapots and Tractors 2013

This is a great idea for encouraging positivity and belief in themselves, as well as encouraging and rewarding good behaviour. I found you through TUST :)

Thank you for this – perfectly timed as it is the last few days of school holidays and both parents and children in my home are getting restless.

Thats ok – its hard the last week of holidays when we are feeling ready for school to go back to notice the good things.

This is a great list, it reminds me of some advice I heard around the traps of being specific with the encouragement we give kids x

Exactly – encouragement is always better than praise!

What a lovely idea Annaleis – It’ll be a good reminder to make sure I give the Big Sister enough praise when she is doing the right thing.

My daugher came last in her swimming carnival yesterday. We were very proud. ‘Well done’ I said. Despite being last in both events she was originally only going to swim one. She swam two, and finished them both. ‘Well done again’ I said.

I love it! There are some great ideas on there. A friend of mine gave me a 100 ways to praise your children poster when I was struggling at the 18month stage. It stayed on my fridge for two years and I used it all the time! Maybe this is a new one I can use :)
